OBKA Annual Taster Days
Taster Day 2022 – Saturday 23rd July 2022
Our Taster Day 2022 is now fully subscribed. You can still register using the form below but you will now be placed on a reserve list.
Missed this year’s Beginners course ? Interested in learning about bees and beekeeping ? Thinking about joining our beginners course next year ? To answer any of these questions, we are holding our annual Taster Day in July at our teaching apiary at the Marlborough School in Woodstock. You have the choice of a morning or afternoon session lasting approximately an hour and a half. Fully protected by a beesuit, you will be shown bees at work in a hive, and have the opportunity to take out a frame of bees for a close inspection. Afterwards, over refreshments, you will be able to ask our apiary managers any questions or concerns you have about keeping bees or simply what you can do to help bees generally.
There is a fee of £12 to cover our set up costs.
We will have two sessions on 23rd July; a morning session running from 1030-1230hrs and an afternoon session 1330 – 1530hrs.
Please use the form below to book your place on the course. We will be asking for payment in advance using PayPal / iZettle so you’ll get an email with a link so that you can pay via a credit or debit card.

Annual taster Day 2019
The Taster day this year was again heavily oversubscribed – we have to limit the number of people at each session or else there are too many people round each hive that we open and people don’t all get a chance to actually handle the bees.
Thus 24 people, all completely new to beekeeping, joined us on Saturday 17th August split into morning and afternoon groups. The sessions were led by Jonathan Clark and David Lord. The weather was fine and the bees were calm. Jonathan and David demonstrated basic beekeeping techniques to the attendees. Each session was concluded by Q&A, honey tasting (of course!) and tea and biscuits.
