OBKA Honey Extraction Day
6 August @ 09:30 - 16:30
There’s a lot of honey at the OBKA Woodstock apiary this year, but it’s still on the hives, so we are running a “Honey Extraction Day” on Saturday 6th August, starting at 9:30 am, where we will extract the full crop. We hope as many members as possible will be able to help us in this important work for the Association.
The tasks include removing the supers from the hives, setting up, and working through until we’ve finished, 4pm. The venue is the Art Room at Marlborough School. The Art Room is on the right as you go under the steel bridge, on the way to the Apiary.
This will be an opportunity to support the association and get involved in extracting honey. We sell the honey at events such as the Blenheim Flower Show which helps us keep membership and training course fees low. We have lots to extract, so the more the merrier. Please bring an apron or similar if you have one. We have gloves and so on. Please bring lunch and we will provide tea/coffee/soft drinks. If you are only available for part of the day, we are happy to see you for the morning or afternoon sessions.
To facilitate this session, clearer boards need to be put on the hives, so we are also running an open Apiary session at 4pm on Thursday 4th August.
For both events, meet in the main staff carpark at 4.00 pm on Thursday, 9.30 am on Saturday for the morning session, and 12.30 pm for the afternoon session.
