OBKA Honey Show 2023

Oxfordshire Beekeepers Annual Honey Show 2023 was held on Sunday 19th November 2023. It was very well attended and in addition to the honey show a ‘Bring and Buy’ sale was held and certificates were handed out to OBKA members who had achieved the Basic Assessment, BBKA modules and the Bee Health Certificate.

We’ll follow the day through the sequence of events of a honey show – setting up, judging, results, cup presentations and certificate presentations, with a couple of detours to the Bring and Sell event and the donation of a microscope to OBKA.

Our Honey Show judge was again Claire O’Brien who, once she has completed her judging, kindly then gives us feedback on what she looks for in the various classes and how she comes to her decisions.

During the ‘awards’ ceremony we had the cups awarded according to the Honey Show judging results. BBKA Basic and Module certificates were also handed out.

Oxfordshire Beekeepers had an excellent season this year with 7 members passing the Basic Assessment. At the Honey Show only Elise Peyre and Steve Freeman were present to receive their certificates and Elise Peyre also won the cup for the highest score in the Basic.
